2021 Show COVID Precautions

For 2021, all horse shows will operate according to these precautions at a minimum. Shows may enforce other precautionary measures at their discretion in order to run a safe horse show.

  • Shows will follow all guidelines issued by the county in which the show is operating.

  • Shows will follow the USEF COVID-19 Action Plan.

What does this mean for you?

Wear a mask, unless you are riding. Stay 6’ apart from others (any closer and you’ll get kicked!) Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, or use hand sanitizer. Be ready to have your temperature checked upon entering the show grounds. For this year, have your adoring friends and family stay home and ask a barnmate to take video to share with the spectators who couldn’t join you. Pre-enter for your classes! And stay up to date on any additional policies that the show may have in place by checking the prize list and other documents on the show’s page on HorseShowing.com or Show Management System.

We look forward to seeing the upper halves of your faces this summer!

Checklist for the First Show

Our season opener at Country Hill Farm is fast approaching! To minimize time in the show office, make sure you are prepared with everything you’ll need to get the season started! All of these forms can be found on the Downloads and Forms page.

  • Have you joined BCHSA? To accrue points, the horse or pony (for hunter and pleasure divisions) or the rider (equitation divisions) must be a member as of the day of the horse show. You can join online!

  • Joining in person on the day of the horse show? Print off and fill out your membership form and participation waiver and have your check ready.

  • Have you completed your horse’s Vaccination Record and the Maryland Equine Exhibitor Self-Certification of Equine Health? These documents will need to be presented to the show secretary.

  • Are you riding a pony in a performance division? If your pony already has a measurement card, be sure to bring it with you. If your pony has yet to be measured, you will need to have it measured at the first show for points to count.

  • Are you competing in the Thoroughbred Hunter division? To accrue points, your horse needs to have a completed Thoroughbred Registration Form on file with BCHSA for the season.

If you aren’t sure whether any of these documents apply to you, your trainer will be a great resource!

For the 2021 show season, we encourage all members to pre-enter horse shows using www.horseshowing.com or Show Management System (for shows run by McDonogh School.) Pre-entering allows shows to provide better estimated times of go for each class and to manage capacity on the show grounds in line with Maryland COVID requirements.

If you have pre-entered your classes and come prepared with filled-out documents, your trip to the show office will be a momentary affair!
