Special Awards

BCHSA offers the following Special Awards presented at the year-end Banquet of Champions. These awards are presented to exemplary individuals who are nominated by their peers. If you know of an outstanding candidate for these awards, please write specialawards@bchsa.org with your nomination. Please include a brief explanation of why your nominee is so deserving!

Junior and Adult Sportsmanship Awards

These awards are presented to the junior and adult members of the association who best exemplify good sportsmanship. Nominees should have positively impacted a horse environment; demonstrated positive sportsmanship in competition; and displayed integrity that goes beyond riding’s rules and etiquette. The Junior Sportsmanship award winner will win the James Lee McGhee Memorial Trophy and the Adult Sportsmanship award winner will be presented with the Robert Tearle Memorial Trophy.

Distinguished Service Award

This award is presented to a member of the association who has demonstrated a continued spirit of leadership and service to BCHSA. Nominees should have a record of continued service to the association in any kind of role, whether through acts of service in the equine community or advising fellow equine enthusiasts.

Trainer of the Year Award

This award is presented to a trainer who has demonstrated an ability to inspire students to excel and has supported the BCHSA throughout the Show Season. Nominees should have exhibited outstanding attention to their students as well as a willingness to help others both in and out of the ring. Any trainer is eligible to be considered for the Trainer of the Year Award, in any year, without regard to having won in prior years. The winner will be awarded the Transglobal Trainer of the Year Perpetual Trophy.
